1) SPOntaneous Computing and Communication: usage, challenges and barriers (SPOCC 2004)

 

In August 2004, Simplicity co-operated, together with AAAI, IEEE Computer Society  and ACM SIGMOBILE, in organizing the conference MobiQuitous 2004. MobiQuitous 2004 (August 22-26, 2004, Boston, Massachusetts, USA) was the First Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Networking and Services. In particular, the project organized a panel, held during the main conference, entitled "SPOntaneous Computing and Communication: usage, challenges and barriers (SPOCC 2004).  During the panel well known experts in the field also presented a position paper summarizing the state of the art, outlining open issues and identifying hot research topics.

 

2) MobiSys2005

 

The Simplicity tour guide demonstrator from Lancaster has been accepted by MobiSys2005: the third International Conference on Mobile Systems, Applications, and Services. The demonstrator has been displayed as part of the poster/demo session (http://www.sigmobile.org/mobisys/2005/ )

 

3) First International Wireless Summit

 

Simplicity has been invited to showcase the results of the project and to organize a session during the Wireless Exhibition at the first International Wireless Summit (IWS2005: www.iws2005.org). The summit has been held in Aalborg, Denmark, September 17 - 22, 2005.

 

4) First International Workshop on Secure and Ubiquitous Networks

 

Simplicity is co-organizer of the first International Workshop on Secure and Ubiquitous Networks (SUN 05), in conjunction with the 16th International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications (DEXA 2005), Copenhagen, Aug 22-27, 2005 (http://isg.upc.es/sun05) Fellow co-organizers include the projects E2R, MAGNET and UBISEC.

 

5) 14th IST Mobile & Wireless Communications Summit

 

Simplicity has successfully presented a preliminary version of its demonstrator in a dedicated booth at the 14th IST Mobile & Wireless Communications Summit, June 19-23 2005, Dresden, Germany (http://mobilesummit2005.org/session.php?session=151).

Simplicity presented its contribution to standardization activity at a 3GPPP meeting (Povoa de Varzim, Portugal, 12 Jul 2005), under invitation of the group chair.

 

7) WPMC'05

 

Simplicity chaired a session at WPMC'05, Aalborg, Denmark, Sept. 2005, hosting papers on Simplicity-related topics

 

8) SUN05 workshop

 

Simplicity presented an invited paper, jointly with the UBISEC project.

 

9) Mobile HCI 2005

 

Simplicity organized a tutorial dedicated to the "Development of Interactive Applications for Mobile Devices" at Mobile HCI 2005, held from September 19-22, 2005 in Salzburg, Austria.

 

10) WWI meeting

 

Simplicity has successfully presented a close to final version of its demonstrator at a WWI meeting

11) WWRF meeting 

 

Simplicity has successfully presented a close to final version of its demonstrator at a WWRF meeting (December 8-9, http://www.wireless-world-research.org/), in Paris, presenting also some contributions to the standardization activity

DoCoMo Euro-Labs and LMU have jointly filed an EU patent application on “Method and Apparatus for Automatic Form Filling on Mobile Devices”
